Future Development and Steam Release

Hi all-

First off, thanks so much to everyone who's played, shared, and enjoyed Interior Worlds so far. Your reception and feedback helps me continue to fine tune my games into more enjoyable experiences.

As most of you might imagine this was meant to be a very small, compact, and short-term project for me to have out by Halloween weekend. I chose to crunch more than I think was necessary for the sake of getting things the way I wanted them, and in doing so caused some substantial development burn-out. As a result I'll be taking a bit of a break to catch my breath and reevaluate what I currently have on my plate.

For Interior Worlds specifically, that includes a post-release update out and working on an official Steam release for early next year. My plans for the update include:

  • Full Steam release on PC and Mac (maybe Linux, I'm not sure yet).
  • Numerous achievements for the Steam release.
  • Improvements to UI and general end-user experience (instructions, prompts, directions).
  • Cut-downs to the Suburban world's emptiness, increase in environmental variety.
  • Better flow to photo capture locations.
  • Increased Photo Album size.
  • 2 additional worlds; an empty school at dusk and an airport during redeye departures.

That's all for now. I'd like to have this update launch in tandem with the Steam release, which I hope to have out around late-January.

In the meantime, NormalHumanSixx and I will be continuing polish on our new Covert Critter demo release for February's Steam Nextfest.

Thanks,

sodaraptor

TL;DR: Interior Worlds Steam release and big update planned late-January.

I'm just curious. What additional work is necessary to go from an itch to a steam release?

Mostly creating a couple dozen capsule images for the game's page, filling out compatibility forms, and configuring Steamwork settings. It's not a lot of work, but I'd like to have some things improved, tweaked, and added to the update before a Steam release.

as someone who just finished a month of crunch time on a project, I one hundred percent understand the need for a break lol.
With that said, I am super excited for the update. I'll be patient but I look forward to it. XD
